Preface
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) through its mandate as
spelt out in the Universities Act, Cap. 346 of the Laws of Tanzania
coordinates admissions of Postgraduate students in universities in the
country. To facilitate the process, TCU prepares Admission Guidebooks
annually to guide the prospective applicants on admission procedures,
available programmes and universities approved to admit students in a
particular academic year.
This admission Guidebook outlines the requirements for admission into
Postgraduate programmes in Tanzania. The procedures for admission of
students to Postgraduate programmes require every applicant to apply
for admission into the programme to the University of his/her choice
using the prescribed procedures. To facilitate the admission process, this
document has been prepared as a tool to guide universities and
applicants on the admission procedure and to enable TCU on the other
hand to regulate the admission process. The Guidebook contains
information on Postgraduate programmes approved to admit students
in 2024/2025 Admission Cycle including the minimum entry
requirements.
Each applicant is strongly advised to carefully read and understand the
procedure and programme admission requirements before lodging
his/her application to the respective institutions. The decision on
admission of applicants is made by the individual institutions through
their Senates or Governing Boards. For further inquiries, prospective
applicants and the general public are advised to contact respective
institutions through the contact addresses provided in their websites.

The Postgraduate Admission Guidebook has been prepared as a tool to
guide universities and prospective applicants on the admission criteria
on one hand and to enable TCU to regulate the admission process on the
other hand. The book is further intended to guide and inform prospective
students, parents and stakeholders about university institutions which
offer Postgraduate programmes, recognised Postgraduate programmes
in the respective admission cycle, minimum entry requirements,
institutional admission capacities and duration of each programme.
