We pride ourselves on creating open, inclusive, safe, and secure spaces for meaningful dialogue, while working closely with like-minded partners to ensure participatory, citizen-centered engagement. At the core of our work is a commitment to digital democracy, amplifying citizen voices both online and offline to build a more transparent, equitable society.

Position Overview

This is a pivotal role in advancing our vision of digital democracy—where technology and digital platforms are used to amplify citizen voices, promote accountability, and enhance participatory governance.

As the Head of the Hub, you will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of innovative initiatives that bridge the gap between citizens and duty bearers. You will work at the intersection of technology, civic engagement, and policy, helping to ensure that digital tools foster transparency, inclusivity, and informed public dialogue.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership in the development and execution of JamiiAfrica’s digital democracy agenda.

• Design and manage programs and campaigns that encourage civic participation, government responsiveness, and public accountability.

• Oversee research, data analysis, and digital advocacy initiatives that support informed citizen engagement.

• Collaborate with partners, tech innovators, civil society, and government institutions to build inclusive digital ecosystems.

• Ensure digital rights and information integrity across all digital initiatives.

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of content managers and creators, data scientists, and public engagement specialists (digital advocacy team).

• Contribute to fundraising and partnership development efforts for the Digital Democracy Hub.

• Track and report on program impact, innovation milestones, and citizen reach and engagement.

• Represent JamiiAfrica in digital policy discussions, innovation forums, and civic tech networks locally and globally.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Digital Media, ICT for Development, Public Policy, Political Science, Communication, or related field.

• At least 5 years of experience in digital innovation, civic tech, media, governance, or related development work—preferably with a focus on civic engagement or democracy.

• Proven track record in managing digital platforms or initiatives that promote social impact.

• Strong understanding of digital democracy, open government, civic tech, and digital rights landscapes in Tanzania and the region.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.

• Experience leading teams and working in cross-functional, agile environments.

• Passion for citizen empowerment, civic space, and democratic governance.

• Proficiency in digital tools, data visualization, social media strategies, and online safety protocols is an added advantage.

What We Offer

• A unique opportunity to shape and lead a cutting-edge hub for digital democracy in the region.

• A collaborative, creative, and inclusive work culture.

• Competitive compensation and opportunities for career growth.

• A chance to work on projects that truly make a difference in the lives of citizens.
